Blood of the Saints, Powerwolf's 4th studio album, was recorded with Fredrik Nordström and Henrik Udd at Studio Fredman in Gothenburg, Sweden. Upon initial release in July 2011, the album managed to land on a back-then impressing # 23 position in the official German charts and ultimately kicked off the global phenomenon that are Powerwolf and the group's unstoppable and still ongoing as one of the leading Heavy Metal acts of our times…

"Looking back at the era of 'Blood of the Saints' it was an intense and wonderful time in which we learned a lot, had the chance to expand our touring activities and indeed found a lot of new listeners both with the release of the album as well as on tour", commented Powerwolf's Matthew Greywolf as part of the liner notes for Blood of the Saints (10th Anniversary Edition).

Grutle Kjellson stated,
"Releasing an EP is a huge privilege, it really is. It is somehow reliving to go on a stroll away from the the album format, and take some leaps into obscurity in between two full lengths. There’s so many great and experimental EP’s in music history; Magical Mystery Tour, Garage Days Revisited, Deathcrush, The Golden Years… just to mention a very few. We hope Caravans To The Outer Worlds, our third EP in 30 years, can fascinate and inspire.”

Ivar Bjørnson stated,
"This EP is an expression of the vital state Enslaved is in – the idea to create a transitory release between Utgard and what is to come next logically led to the idea of an EP. Iver’s idea of adding short intermezzos between the two main songs gave this release even more energy and depth. This EP is one that points backwards towards our early works as well as forward to a yet unknown place we seem to be heading for."

ENSLAVED - Release video for track "Ruun II - The Epitaph", "Caravans To The Outer Worlds" EP is out now!

2021-10-01 - WISDOM AND CHAOS MUST UNITE, THE STORM WILL LINGER ON...

Enslaved's new EP Caravans To The Outer Worlds has today been released unto the universe, alongside a beautiful video for the track Ruun II - The Epitaph. Viewers should note that the video is part two - a second part to the video which accompanied the EP title track.

A new cycle is underway, and Enslaved find themselves on a bridge between the archaic and the unmapped. Caravans To The Outer Worlds EP is a tale of departure, of leaving behind a barren and desolate world, travelling boldly into the future. There are outer worlds to go to and new havens to rebuild in, to invoke a new dawn and to defend the new world for those of Sense and Earth.

Caravans To The Outer Worlds EP contains neck breaking riffage that points backwards to the raw beginnings of Enslaved - the title track marking an explosive lift-off with melodic breakaways and proggy slingshots onto new orbits, while the ominous Ruun II: The Epitaph takes a sombre dive into the murky and mysterious ocean of stars beyond the known. These two main pieces are framed by two intermezzos: Intermezzo I: Lönnlig. Gudlig. and Intermezzo II: The Navigator; wrapping up the main stories with respectively what came before and what is to come…

MINISTRY - Releases Bold New Music Video For 'Disinformation', New Record "Moral Hygiene" Out Today!

"Moral Hygiene" is MINISTRY’s 15th studio album and features some of the project’s strongest and most inspired material to date. It features the creative masterwork of founder and creator Al Jourgensen who spent the pandemic pause in 2020 ruminating on the new world we as a society have found ourselves in – while pondering just what we are going to do about it.

The 10 tracks are a follow-up to 2018’s lauded "AmeriKKKant" and put forth Jourgensen’s societal manifesto and plea for civilization to get back to a set of standards that lives up to and embraces our humanity.

Previous singles have included 'Alert Level' (sounding the alarm on the state society is in), 'Good Trouble' (a rallying cry to fight for human rights in homage to Civil Rights leader John Lewis) and 'Search And Destroy' (the unique take on The Stooges classic), the latter of which features guitar virtuoso Billy Morrison (Billy Idol/Royal Machines). Morrison is also heavily featured on a number of songs on the album. The record also includes a collaboration with Jello Biafra (Jourgensen’s cohort in side project LARD) on 'Sabotage Is Sex'.

"Moral Hygiene" was recorded with engineer Michael Rozon (also behind the boards on "AmeriKKKant") at Scheisse Dog Studio, Jourgensen’s self-built home studio and creative lab. As with all MINISTRY albums, all songs are written and performed by Al Jourgensen. Additional contributions come from Billy Morrison (Billy Idol, Royal Machines), Cesar Soto (Man The Mute), John Bechdel (Killing Joke, Fear Factory), Roy Mayorga (Stonesour, Soulfly, Nausea), Paul D’Amour (Tool, Feersum Ennjin), Arabian Prince (N.W.A.), Jello Biafra (Dead Kennedys) and sitar player Flash.

Here is what media has had to say about "Moral Hygiene":

“MINISTRY’s new LP 'Moral Hygiene' is one of their best … 'Moral Hygiene' has quickly become one of my favorite records of 2021 … MINISTRY mastermind Al Jourgensen has come back to embrace some of the soundscapes found in the band’s earlier releases.” – Metal Insider

“'Moral Hygiene' is truly an album for its time. … It is fresh, relevant, and stacked with incisive socio-political commentary from one of extreme music’s veterans of discontented rage. … Exciting, angry, and unapologetic: exactly how we like our MINISTRY.” – Hysteria Magazine

“Having bands like MINISTRY around is still pretty critical when it feels like the social contract is hanging together by a thread. … What Jourgensen has been able to do … is make each MINISTRY album a statement about the world we live in now and what we should do to make it better. The music is as abrasive and confrontational as ever.” – Wall Of Sound

Sorcier Des Glaces was formed in 1997 as a duo, by Sébastien Robitaille & Luc Gaulin.
Meaning “Ice Wizard” in english, the concept paints a dark universe of vast, ancient northern landcapes, where the last remaining humans are tracked by unholy forces. Sorcier Des Glaces is a sombre, misanthropic and lonely
character that haunts and fights that eternal war against Mankind.
The duo released its first album, Snowland, in 1998 as a CDR only distributed by the band. In 1999, the band enters the studio again to record the follow-up, “Moonrise in Total Darkness”. At the time, S. Robitaille & L. Gaulin were
very active in their main band called Moonlyght. SDG was more considered a side project back then. As Moonlyght was about to enter studio to record their debut album and play many gigs, Sorcier Des Glaces, who were still unsigned on a label at that time, was put on hold for a long time. In 2006, Mankind’s Demise Records showed interest in releasing “Moonrise in Total Darkness”, seven years after it was recorded. It kind of resurrected SDG, so S. Robitaille started to work on another album in 2009/2010. With a newly acquired home studio in 2010, it was easier for the duo to record on their own, and motivation was back for Sorcier Des Glaces. The result was called “The Puressence of Primitive Forests”, a brand new album by the band after more than 10 years after the last one recorded! Mankind’s Demise also released the third chapter of Sorcier Des Glaces. That album showed a very strong influence of old school black metal from the second  wave, and marked the end of using keyboards in SDG’s sound. The band is using now many guitar layers to create the atmosphere. S. Robitaille composed & partly recorded no less than the two next Sorcier Des Glaces albums in 2010/2011 but also the complete re-recording of Snowland, baptized “Snowland MMXII”. That particular album was the last one released on Mankind’s Demise Records, as the next two albums “Ritual of the End” (2014), and “North” (2016) were released on Obscure Abhorrence Productions. The first contact with OAP was made via the split album with Monarque that was released in 2012. Came also that very active year “Monuments Anciens”, a collection of old demo songs only released on cassette via Les Productions Hérétiques. Many songs were recorded during the “North” album, some leftovers appeared on the split album with French black metal band Ende, called “Le Puits des Morts”. 2018 sees the release of a very monolithic album consisted of a unique 50 min. self-titled song “Sorcier Des Glaces”. That album showed a very atmospheric side of the band, telling the story of the rebellious spirit of Sorcier Des Glaces.
SDG comes back again in 2020 with its 8th studio album released in October, called “Un Monde de Glace et de Sang”. The band presents powerful material that includes elements of all albums since its creation.
The duo mastered their own musical style throughout the years that they call Cold Primitive Metal. In early 2021, an EP called “Ghastly Memories” follow the latest album and include two exclusive songs and two cover songs.
To be continued…

Osmose Productions is very proud to announce the signing of Sorcier Des Glaces!

« Today is a very important milestone in Sorcier Des Glaces career, and we are extremely proud of this achievement. Several of my favorite lifelong albums have been released on Osmose Productions and for me, this label represents one of the founding pillars of this scene. If I had ever imagined that this “little” musical project that I started back in 1997 (which was supposed to be a side project in the beginning) would evolve like this, I wouldn’t have believed it myself! It’s a great gift for Sorcier Des Glaces, as we will be celebrating our 25th birthday in 2022. »

Metal Blade Records welcomes Lybica to its worldwide roster!

Lybica were first conceived in 2020 when it became clear to Justin Foley (drummer for Killswitch Engage) that he wasn't going to be spending much time with his normal bandmates for a while. Quarantine days still needed to be time well spent, and he'd been working on some demos that he finally decided to share with a few local friends in South Florida. "I'd written a bunch of stuff that didn't quite fit into traditional song structures," Foley says. "And I've always been drawn to bands where the instruments provide hooks, rather than relying on a lyric. It seemed like a good time to start something new and see where it could go."

Foley met fellow musicians Doug French (Gravel Kings) and Joey Johnson (Gravel Kings, Barriers Now Bridges, Days Spent) back in 2016, and they had repeatedly talked about jamming together but never actually got around to it. Foley and French - both drummers by trade - often spoke about trying something different that allowed them each to get out from behind the kit.

"I've always wanted to play a stringed instrument," French shares. "And bass felt natural, since it is the other half of the rhythm section."

Johnson grew up playing shows all over Florida, heavily influenced by early punk and then both hardcore and metal. "[People at] all the good places to get a beer kept asking me if I had met Justin, since they know I play music," he recalls. "I heard about him in our town for about a year before we actually met through mutual friends. We hit it off when we started talking [about] instrumental music."

When French and Johnson eventually received the demos from Foley, they really liked what they heard. For several months, the three of them emailed music back and forth while learning the parts, especially Foley and French on instruments - guitar and bass, respectively - that they weren't experienced playing. They eventually started playing together with the drum tracks from the demos blasting through the PA speakers. Before too long, they had enough music for a full record and the direction of the band was taking shape.

The trio soon discovered that they had something else in common besides music.

"The three of us are pretty big cat people," Foley points out. "So it only made sense to call the band Lybica."

Named after a small wildcat species native to Africa that is widely considered the godfather of the modern house cat, Lybica is the first known feline species to be tamed and domesticated by humans.

Fast forward 10,000 years, and today, Lybica the band are as addictive as catnip.

With plans to release their debut self-titled full-length album early next year, Lybica are poised to make some serious noise in 2021 and beyond - fur-real!

RIVERS OF NIHIL

With The Work, Rivers of Nihil have forged further into new territory, delivering an album that is as cerebral as it is visceral, and that covers a staggering sonic range, definitively placing them in a category of their own.

"For those who loved 'Where Owls Know My Name', this album's bursts of syrupy saxophone ('The Tower', 'Episode') and detours into dreamy, Moog-embellished shoegaze (the utterly sublime 'Maybe One Day') may not come as a massive surprise, but the sophisticated and elegant way that all those new elements have been assimilated into the Rivers of Nihil sound is genuinely impressive." - Blabbermouth.net

"'The Work' is indeed…the band's best work yet, one which serves both as the ending of one era and, perhaps, the beginning of another." - NoCleanSinging.com

"Cerebral, emotional and challenging, 'The Work' is a beautifully schizophrenic piece of art from a band unafraid to smash through boundaries and set their own rules." - GhostCultMag.com

"An invigorating genre-agnostic blend of death metal, prog, electronic, jazz inflections, even some arena rock riffage, each new listen brings up undiscovered pleasures." - MetalSucks.net

"'Ending on 'Terrestria IV: Work,' Rivers of Nihil leave you off on an eleven minute and thirty second slam dunk of a song. It's technical. It's heavy. It's cathartic. It's gripping. It's an embodiment of what 'The Work' is." - NewNoiseMagazine.com

THE OCEAN

Despite these surreal circumstances, The Ocean's performance in Bremen felt like a real live show, for everyone watching: the energy spilled over to thousands of people from all over the world watching from their homes, who clotted the band's instagram story with hundreds of shares and comments. The crazy response was another testimony to how much we were all missing live music at this time: to watch a band connect with their crowd at home in this very intense way was an experience that was oddly beautiful and frustrating in equal measure. After this special and invigorating experience, it was clear that the 2nd part had to be intentionally different. "We wanted to do something more cinematic visually, and at the same time more intimate, we wanted to capture the feeling of the 6 of us in a relatively small, confined space, facing each other, in a circle… without the crowd playing any role or being any part of this equation", says Staps. "It was March and the room that we spent the whole day in was cold, but that was part of the vibe. We had to warm up our fingers constantly." Much like the first part, the band performed the album live, all together in one room, several times during one long day. The best take was chosen, then mixed by long term live sound engineer Chris Edrich. Dana Schecter (Swans, Insect Ark) created animations of the iconic "collision" motive of the Phanerozoic II album art, specifically for the premiere at Roadburn Festival 2 weeks later, where it aired on Friday night as the highlight and headlining act of the band's own Pelagic Records showcase. The logistics and preparations for these two events were as challenging as one can imagine: bass player Mattias Hägerstrand flew in from Stockholm and had to quarantine in Berlin before rehearsals. None of the band members (or anyone their age group, for that matter) was vaxxed at that time, and before the Bremen event the entire band and crew were tested outside of the venue, before anyone was allowed to enter. Masks had to be worn at all times until show start, even during soundcheck. Phanerozoic Live is a live album like no other - it is a live album that was recorded in a cultural vacuum, a bizarre time that we will remember for the rest of our lives: a time when the world as we knew it suddenly stopped spinning. It is a live album that does without all the qualities that we usually appreciate about a live album: without the sounds of a cheering, exited crowd. But it is the very absence of this, it is the eerie silence between the songs that reminds us of what we miss most, and that gives these recordings a rare intensity and power.

The Ocean to release "Phanerozoic Live" on November 26th
Berlin-based progressive metal act The Ocean present an unusual live album. One that is a testimony of strange times: their Phanerozoic concept album performed live in its entirety at a time when no shows were happening anywhere in the World.

On September 25, 2020, in the middle of the global pandemic, The Ocean released their 9th studio album Phanerozoic II, the concluding episode of a conceptual trilogy that began with Precambrian 13 years before - and even without any touring to support the new album release, Phanerozoic II entered the official German album charts at #9. With no end of lockdowns in sight, the band decided to thank their fans for the support with two streaming concerts, performing both Phanerozoic albums in their entirety: Phanerozoic I was streamed live from Pier 2, a big hall in the port of Bremen, on March 25, 2021. With more than 1.500 tickets sold, it was the most successful show of the popular "Club 100" streaming events series thus far. The day after this event, the band retreated to synth player and sound designer Peter Voigtmann's rural studio "Die Mühle", just outside of Bremen. Here, the band rehearsed and recorded Phanerozoic II in its entirety during the following three days. The performance aired on April 16 as part of the digital edition of Roadburn Festival, this year abtly named Roadburn Redux. Both shows couldn't have been more different: where the first part boasts with a pompous, mesmerizing lighting production on a big stage, the 2nd part is quite the opposite: intimate, almost cosy, focused on musicianship rather than performance. A stripped down setup in a dark barn, with moody, minimal but not any less efficient lighting. "We wanted to give people two totally different experiences", says band leader Robin Staps. "In Bremen, we had the chance to record a proper Ocean live show, the way people know us. We played facing towards the front of the stage, to an invisible crowd, essentially to a huge empty room… but we knew people were watching, even if we didn't see them. There was the same rush of adrenaline right before going on stage as you get before going on at any big open air festival… maybe with a little extra anxiety added, because knowing that so many people are watching you without being able to see them yourself was super weird."

Killswitch Engage release "Us Against the World" video

Footage taken from band's Summer 2021 Livestream at The Palladium in Worcester

Touring with Slipknot this Fall

Killswitch Engage - Jesse Leach (vocals), Adam Dutkiewicz (guitars), Joel Stroetzel (guitars), Mike D'Antonio (bass), and Justin Foley (drums) - have released the official video for "Us Against the World" from their latest album, Atonement, out now. Watch it here: youtu.be/hqowJmzeEEg

The footage is culled from the band's August 2021 livestream event that took place at The Palladium in Worcester, Massachusetts - the site of many iconic and memorable KsE shows through the years. It was directed by David Brodsky and Allison Woest for MyGoodEye.

"This is one of my favorite songs off the album so I'm glad it is getting some attention and a visual component," says Leach. "It's a song about facing down the odds and finding confidence to overcome and conquer a situation. I originally wrote it as a battle cry song with my warrior Highland Scottish, Norwegian, and Swedish ancestors in mind. However, it can be about friendship, love, or even the camaraderie of being in a band traveling the world. The title says it all - 'Us Against The World!'"

About Killswitch Engage:
Recently recognized by Forbes as "one of modern metal's most cherished acts," KsE first shook the structure of heavy music upon climbing out of snowy industrialized Western Massachusetts in 1999. The band pioneered a DNA-distinct and oft-imitated style, fusing thrashed-out European guitar pyrotechnics, East Coast hardcore spirit, on-stage hijinks, and enlightened lyricism that set the pace for what the turn-of-the-century deemed heavy.

2002's Alive Or Just Breathing, which followed an attention-getting, self-titled debut, earned its reputation as a definitive album and was named among "The Top 100 Greatest Metal Albums of the Decade" by Decibel and celebrated by everyone from Metal Hammer to Revolver. Original singer Jesse Leach departed the band in 2002 and was replaced by Howard Jones, who would front the band until Leach's return in 2012.

Along the way, KsE have garnered three GRAMMY®Award nominations in the category of "Best Metal Performance" in 2005, 2014, and 2020. They've received gold certifications for The End Of Heartache [2004] and As Daylight Dies [2006]. The group landed three consecutive Top 10 debuts on the Billboard Top 200 with Killswitch Engage [2009], Disarm The Descent [2013], and their career high best bow at #6 with Incarnate [2016]. The latter two releases would also both capture #1 on the Top Rock Albums and Top Hard Rock Albums charts. Their total streams have exceeded half-a-billion to date. Along the way, the band has shared stages with some of the biggest acts in the world and have sold out countless headline gigs in six continents across the globe. Their eighth full-length Atonement debuted #2 on the Billboard Top Album chart, #13 on the Billboard Top 200, and once again #1 on both the Top Rock and Hard Rock Album charts.

KsE have spent most of their career on the road, sharing stages with Iron Maiden, Slayer, Mastodon, Slipknot, and more. They've appeared as a featured attraction at OZZFest, Rock Star Energy Drink Mayhem Festival, Taste Of Chaos (with My Chemical Romance), Warped Tour, and more.

PROSCRIPTOR MCGOVERN’S APSÛ - New Song Premiere

When drummer/vocalist Proscriptor (Russ R. Givens) dissolved Absu on January 27th 2020, his main intention was to splinter the 30-year old faction into a renewed songwriting concord. Proscriptor McGovern’s Apsû is the obvious by-product of that chemical breakdown, which constitutes a new incarnation and direct continuation of Absu’s legacy. Securing the ranks is continuing bassist/vocalist Ezezu (Absu: 2008-2020), new guitar virtuoso Vaggreaz (Possessed/Gruesome) and keyboardist Vorskaath (Zemial/Agatus/ex-Varathron). Since Absu’s last, unreleased album was to be penned as “Apsû,” Proscriptor fused the title with his name to form the group. With this much anticipated, self-titled album, Proscriptor’s objective was to append the signature sound of “mythological occult metal,” but to convolute it with bouts of psychedelia, fusion and vintage electronics.

Written for those who are curious and unwearied in their quest of arcane knowledge, the album was chronicled at studios around the world with final mixing handled in Dallas, Texas by both Proscriptor and J.T. Longoria (Absu/King Diamond/Solitude Aeternus) and mastering by Swedish Grammy nominee Karl Daniel Lidén in Sweden. The album also features guest appearances from Ross Friedman (Ross The Boss/ex-Manowar), Rune Eriksen (Aura Noir/Vltimas/ex-Mayhem), Alex Colin-Tocquaine (Agressor) and The Dark (Agatus). To assemble the album’s packaging with eight separate portrait illustrations, the band has re-commissioned the expertise of renowned Polish artist Zbigniew Bielak (Darkthrone/Portal/Watain).

CABAL is one of the most brutal and promising heavy acts hailing from Copenhagen, Denmark. The band aims to create a visceral and doom-laden atmosphere throughout both their music and visual expression. The production is crystal clear, whilst the songwriting draws inspiration from everything from black and death metal to djent and hardcore.

Since the release of their debut album "Mark of Rot" in 2018, the young band has managed to make a name for themselves in both Denmark and the rest of the world by playing renowned festivals like Copenhell, Roskilde Festival, Euroblast Festival and Complexity Fest as well as touring in Europe, Japan and North America.

CABAL released the sophomore album "Drag Me Down" in April 2020 - a dark descent into a personal hell brought to life by crushing instrumentals, an oppressive atmosphere and dark personal lyrics delivered with relentless intensity, while still leaving room for experimentation and expansion of CABAL’s signature sound. Add to this guest appearances from metal titans TRIVIUM's Matt Heafy, rising metalcore stars POLARIS’ Jamie Hails and Denmark’s Blackgaze darlings MØL’s Kim Song Sternkopf and there is no doubt that CABAL is a band with friends in every corner of the metal scene.

CABAL are currently working on their third full length album which will be released during 2022.

CABAL is:
Andreas Bjulver Paarup – Vocals
Arsalan Sakhi - Guitars
Christian Hammer Mattesen - Guitars
Chris Kreutzfeldt - Guitars
Malthe Strøyer Sørensen - Bass
Nikolaj Kaae Kirk - Drums

CABAL - ink a worldwide deal with Nuclear Blast Records + announce "Never Say Die!" tour!
Worldwide leading metal label NUCLEAR BLAST is insanely stoked to announce the signing of Danish legends to be CABAL. The six piece from Copenhagen are down to conquer the business with their visceral and doom-laden atmosphere, strapped up with a mixture of extreme metal, hardcore and djent.

2021-10-08 - Finally, two blazing forces of metal unite to let darkness descend over the world: Worldwide leading metal label NUCLEAR BLAST is insanely stoked to announce the signing of Danish legends to be CABAL. The six piece from Copenhagen are down to conquer the business with their visceral and doom-laden atmosphere, strapped up with a mixture of extreme metal, hardcore and djent. Be prepared for this lethal combination to blow up your world.

CABAL states:
"We are beyond ecstatic and proud that CABAL is now a part of the Nuclear Blast family.
A lot of the bands that we grew up listening to and idolising were signed to Nuclear Blast, so joining the roster ourselves feels quite surreal, in the best way possible way, for a bunch of fanboys like ourselves. Having the opportunity to work with such an incredible team is truly a dream come true for us.
This is a new and exciting chapter for CABAL. We can’t wait to release our best material yet with Nuclear Blast Records, and we’re ready to take our musical careers to the next level."

Jens Prüter, Nuclear Blast European Head Of A&R, adds:
“We are very proud to welcome CABAL to NB. Next to MØL, they are one of the most interesting Danish bands pushing the genre boundaries of extreme metal. I first saw the band in January 2018 at the 'When Copenhell Freezes Over' event, when it was actually really freezing cold outside and they set the venue on fire with an intense soundtrack to the apocalypse. Since then, they continued to tour all over the world, from Japan to North America and became an unstoppable force of a new generation for Metal. It’s no surprise that Matt Heafy (Trivium) also took notice and joined them as a guest vocalist on their last album. The next chapters will continue to be surprising. Special thanks to their manager Mirza Radonjica and Jeppe Nissen from Copenhell for introducing me to the band!”

And CABAL immediately step up to the plate: Ready to demonstrate their live power as soon as possible, the band will join the legendary NEVER SAY DIE Tour together with NASTY, WITHIN DESTRUCTION, DISTANT, DAGGER THREAT and LIFESICK. Starting in Hamburg, the band will roam ten different cities in Germany and Switzerland.
